Dylan Parry

Dylan is our highlighted student for the month of May. He recently completed his first year of medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center – Lubbock. He is pursuing a career in Orthopedic Surgery and his research reflects his interest. Dylan’s interest in Orthopedics has been strengthened by his athletic career. He was a collegiate athlete, nominated as one of the best rugby players in collegiate rugby, and completed an Iron Man triathlon prior to starting medical school. He enjoys all sports and loves spending time with his wife and dog.

Dylan has had an extensive involvement in research throughout his first year of medical school.  His most recent publication was in the journal Cureus titled, “The Effects of Ultrasound-Guided Percutaneous Tenotomy on Patients’ Pain and Satisfaction Levels.” He created a poster and presented this at TTU-HSC – Lubbock. This project consisted of evaluating patients’ pain and satisfaction levels following a relatively new procedure called a Tenotomy. A Tenotomy is a treatment option for chronic tendinopathy in which an acute inflammatory response is triggered to bring healing properties to the diseased site. This is a more affordable option and reduces the associated risks compared with other common procedures like open surgery or PRP injections. For Dylan’s strong work in this project and presentation he has earned the ResearchXP highlight of the month.
